Bespoke bride, Alexandra shares her big day plans…

Beautiful bride to be Alexandra Spry and handsome finance Jonathan Gates have had a fairytale romance, they share their beautiful story with us:

“After meeting at a wedding three and a half years ago, we knew that we always wanted to get married.

“One Thursday evening in October 2015 before I had to go to work on the Friday, I found a note telling me to pack my bags for a weekend trip away to my favourite place and that we were to leave in the morning.

“I knew straight away we would be going to Cascais in Portugal, a place I grew up in and have so many wonderful memories of. Whilst there, Jonathan organised many of my favourite things to do and places to go, one of them was to visit Monseratte Palace in Sintra, where to my excitement, he proposed.
The wedding sounds as dreamy as the engagement:

“We are getting married on 1st October this year in Sintra, Portugal and couldn’t be more excited. The ceremony and reception will be black tie and will take place in Quinta da Arriaga, in the hills of Sintra in the evening.”

Of course every fairytale bride needs her perfect dress:

“My beautiful dress is being made by the wonderful Sarah Barrett at Lyn Ashworth. Having always known in my mind what I wanted, my friend recommended Lyn Ashworth to me knowing what style I loved and as soon as I looked at the dresses online I knew I had found the place I was going to buy my dress.

“My appointment was wonderful, Sarah made it the most magical and personal experience, not only for me but for my father too. We sadly lost my mum a year before and Sarah was aware and so kind in so many ways to us both and I look forward to catching up with Sarah and her amazing team on every appointment I have.

“I have decided on a bespoke dress, this way I can have every inch of the dress perfect to me and the dream I’ve always wanted. Sarah listens to all my ideas and gives me great advice too, I feel very lucky to have found such a talented designer who is also such a wonderful person and I cannot wait to try my finished dress on.”

We wish Alexandra the best of luck with the wedding plans and can’t wait to hear all about the wedding!

Real bride, Anne Marie, shares details of her upcoming nuptials

Anne Marie and David got engaged in July 2013. Anne Marie explains:

“David booked our trip on the Orient Express from London to Venice – we then stayed in the Belmond Hotel Cipriani, on the night of the biggest firework display in Europe we sat on the bank of the canal watching the display – when David proposed.  It was a truly magical trip.  The hotel had made sure our seats on the balcony where perfect.  I had said some years before amongst a group of our friends ‘I want fire works if he proposes’…he had taken that quite literally and researched the largest display in Europe.”

“The wedding is on 23rd April at Callow Hall, Ashbourne. We have booked the hotel for the weekend and are creating a party style wedding.” Says Anne Marie

The dress…

“Sarah Barrett and I met by chance when she came into our wine shop “Wine and Whisky” in Leek.  Sarah addressed my ideas and put me instantly at ease, so that was it I had made my decision to have one of Sarah’s designs.  After asking me lots of questions about me the day the venue she helped me through the minefield that is wedding dresses. I felt I had a couple of requirements I didn’t want to compromise on for me and Lyn was more than happy to help me with those designs and even improved them for me.” Finishes Anne Marie.
