Our team is expanding

Made in England couture house, Lyn Ashworth by Sarah Barrett is excited to reveal it is expanding its studio-based team. As the brand grows and expands it has become paramount to find that perfect person to offer another point of contact at our busy design studio.

We are thrilled to announce that we have found that perfect person and would like to take this opportunity to introduce our new ‘studio manager’ Georgina Kirk. Georgina joins the Lyn Ashworth team with years of experience in the wedding industry as an events and wedding co-ordinator and has spent a number of years working in a bridal boutique. She understands the wedding industry completely and is utterly delightful.

Georgina is extremely passionate and professional; she has a lovely calmness about her, the patience of a saint and is superbly organized.  Nothing is too much trouble for Georgina and alongside Sarah she will be at hand to deal with your enquires.

Georgina will be contacting all our lovely Lyn Ashworth stockists over the next few days in which to introduce herself and of course open the ‘White Gallery’ appointment diary.

The story of a Lyn Ashworth Bride

A Mallorcan wedding – Ryan Goodwin and Victoria Hopkins

Date: Saturday 9th August 2014

Venue:  Casal Santa Eulalia, Santa Margalida, Mallorca, Spain

Victoria says:

We knew we wanted to get married abroad and have a relaxed, intimate wedding and Mallorca was our first holiday together.  We found the venue online and the moment we drove up the venue’s drive, we fell in love with it. A perfect Spanish farmhouse which had been beautifully renovated within a stunning setting.

The day itself:

My happiest memory of the day is the moment Ryan saw me when I first walked down the aisle. The expression on his face was so wonderful and after we were married he told me how beautiful I looked and how much he loved my dress.  Another is when my dad saw me for the first time as he’d not seen the dress before the wedding. Another is when I was getting ready and my niece ended up fastening the buttons on the dress by herself, she was in awe!

The dress:

I loved my Lyn Ashworth gown so much, in fact still try it on regularly and twirl! I bought it from Bridal Haven in Tarporley, Cheshire, and had an amazing experience – from the first time appointment to the moment I collected my dress, the service you provided was first class. Kate was so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. I never felt rushed, from trying on dresses to my dress fittings, I had all the time in the world to stand in my dress and twirl! The perfect wedding dress shopping experience.

The story of a Lyn Ashworth bride…

We absolutely love working with our brides at Lyn Ashworth and have a number of ladies coming directly to the studio for our bespoke service. It is an idyllic process, where the creative juices really get going and we love hearing all the details of the wedding plans.

We have recently been working with the beautiful, Hungarian born, and Ice Cream entrepreneur, Eniko Kertész, to design and make a bespoke gown for her big day to her dream man, Jonathan.

We swooned at her romantic love story and thought we would share it with you…

The meeting:

When I first came to England from Hungary I worked at an Italian restaurant in Nottingham. It happened that one evening Jonathan, my now fiancée, was celebrating his Dad’s birthday at the restaurant where I worked.  I was serving drinks that night and I looked after their table all evening.  He kept asking me questions about myself, whilst I served the drinks.  My English was not very good in those days, as I had only been in England for five months, and I was very shy.  At the end of the evening Jonathan came to the bar with a big smile on his face and asked me if I wanted to go out with him for a meal sometime.  I was so embarrassed that I could not even remember my phone number, but in the end I pulled myself together and said yes to the meal and we exchanged phone numbers.

The engagement:

We went to Paris for as few days before Christmas 2013, just to chill out after the busy ice cream season (Eniko and Jonathan own the ever-popular Needwood Ice Cream www.nwicecream.co.uk). One morning we went to the lock bridge over the Seine called Pont de l’Archeveche, which takes you to Notre Dame, to ‘lock our love’. There is a beautiful view with trees and wooden benches along the river, very like the movies. We were casually talking when Jonathan asked me if I would marry him?!  I looked at him and he was already in tears – I was really surprised and for a second I didn’t know what to say.  Suddenly the feeling was unbelievable.  I said yes, we cried, hugged and kissed…

The big day:

We quickly set the date for 4th July 2015. We are getting married in Tutbury church.  It is a beautiful Norman church in a Staffordshire village near to our home.

The theme:

My vision is something simple but chic, very Dior.  I love pale pink and gold together.  I also have an obsession with feathers. I come up with new ideas every day  – I don’t think Jonathan appreciates new ideas every day very much. Pinterest is a very good place to find new ideas.  Seriously addictive like shoes!

The wedding dress:

I have always wanted something unusual.  Something that not many other people would wear.  I took a trip to London and visited one of the most famous wedding dress companies.  It was very busy.  Not what I had envisaged at all. There was no intimacy and very disappointing especially as my parents had flown over from Hungary especially for the occasion.

That was when we decided to ring Sarah Barrett at Lyn Ashworth.  She was so kind and said she could see us the very next day whilst my Mum and Dad were still with us.

As soon as we met we understood each other.  I knew she would make this a wonderful experience of a lifetime and not a stressful period.  I definitely had the intimacy I had been expecting.  We were the only people present at her studio and we spent hours looking at and discussing styles and fabrics.  Everyone present was involved and having pure fun. That is how it should be for every bride and I look forward to my next visit to the magical rooms of Lyn Ashworth (Sarah Barrett).
